Kendall R. Watkins
CONCENTRATION
Kendall is a shareholder of the Davis Brown Law Firm and is a member of the Business
Division. He practices primarily in the area of long-term care and health law.
Health Law and Long-term Care
Ken routinely represents long-term care providers in federal and
state regulatory administrative appeals, malpractice litigation,
business transactions, employment issues, certificate of need
proceedings and professional licensure
proceedings.
The long-term care environment is an ever changing and
highly regulated industry, based in large part on significant federal
and state funding provided to facilities. His clients include a broad
range of for-profit and not-for-profit health care providers, from large
national operators to individual community-operated facilities.
REPRESENTATIVE ENGAGEMENTS
The Firm is general counsel to the Iowa Health Care Association and the Iowa Center for Assisted Living,
the largest long-term care and assisted living trade association in
Iowa, representing over 350 facilities. Ken assists the Association and
its membership through involvement in regulatory, legislative, and
contractual issues.
Ken also operates as general counsel for the Iowa Chiropractic Society,
a trade group for over six hundred chiropractors in Iowa, advising the
Society and its membership in a variety of legislative and contractual
issues.

Ken is a regular speaker and contributor to the Iowa Health Care Association and Iowa Centers for Assisted Living educational seminars.

OF NOTE
Prior to joining the Davis firm, Ken was in-house corporate counsel for seven years at an Iowa-based health care management company. He was an adjunct instructor at the Des Moines Area Community College in Nursing Facility Administration. He was a member of the Drake Law Review.
PERSONAL
Ken and his wife, Heather, have two children, Samantha and Evan. He is a board member of Soccer West Soccer Club and the Greenwood Historic Neighborhood Association.
