Thomas E. Stanberry
CONCENTRATION
Tom is a shareholder of the Davis Brown Law Firm and is a member of the Business Division. His practice involves banking, governmental relations and lobbying, finance and securities.
As a full-time lobbyist, Tom works with a variety of organizations
during the annual session of the Iowa General Assembly. In his
non-government relations practice, Tom advises banks, other financial
institutions and developers on financial transactions, regulatory
matters and corporate governance issues.

REPRESENTATIVE ENGAGEMENTS
- Advising real estate developers on financing structures,
including federal historic tax credits, Iowa historic tax credits, New
Market Tax Credits and Community Development Block Grant funds.
- Advising multiple affordable housing sponsors on financings involving low income housing tax credits.
- Representing a state-wide organization in lobbying a change to
state law which impacted several hundred employers in communities
throughout Iowa.
- Advising banking clients on unique tax credit bridge lending structure and other financing matters.
- Providing boards of directors with guidance on corporate governance issues.
- Representing individual board members during the sale of a company.

Prior to joining the Davis Brown Law Firm, Tom was the chairman and CEO of West Bank and its parent company West Bancorporation, Inc. (NASDAQ: WTBA).
COMMUNITY
Tom is actively involved in the greater Des Moines community. He is currently the chair of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines Board of Directors and a member of the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines (which he chaired from 2009-2011). He is also a member of the executive board of the Mid-Iowa Council of Boy Scouts of America board and the church council of Plymouth UCC Church.
Tom previously chaired the boards of the Iowa Bankers Association and the Central Iowa Region - American Red Cross. He also served on the boards of the Blank Park Zoo, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Wabash College and Drake University Law School (board of counselors).
PERSONAL
Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters in a variety of family activities.
