The department’s practice encompasses a variety of regulatory, litigation and counseling matters falling under the jurisdiction of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as well as other issues relevant to the broadcast industry, such as open meeting and open record laws, public files, general advertising, political advertising, lottery and gambling advertising, defamation suits and copyright issues. Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors & Roberts, P.C. also provides counsel on a range of issues incidental to the operation of communication companies, including labor and employment law, talent contracts, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, antitrust law and intellectual property law. In addition to representing radio stations, TV stations and cable TV companies, Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors & Roberts, P.C. is general counsel to the Iowa Broadcasters Association.
