Public Law and Financing
The firm assists clients with all aspects of public financing for states, counties, municipalities, school districts, nonprofit organizations, including hospitals and educational institutions, and private entities, including both taxable and tax-exempt obligations. The firm has extensive experience as bond counsel, issuer's counsel, underwriter's counsel, bank counsel and borrower's counsel. Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors & Roberts, P.C. has been involved as bond counsel with many of the innovative financings in Iowa, including the cash flow borrowings undertaken by the State from, the issuance of private college revenue bonds by the Iowa Higher Education Loan Authority, and the issuance of Underground Storage Tank Fund Revenue Bonds and Correctional Facility Revenue Bonds by the Iowa Finance Authority. The firm has acted as underwriter’s counsel on such diverse issues as the State’s tobacco securitization, SRF program financing and recreational facility bonds.
