Central Campus student and Lt. Colonel of the Central Campus JROTC, Luis A. Martinez Patino, recently received the rare honor of U.S. Naval Academy nominations by both Iowa Senators Grassley and Harkin.
Martinez, a legal United States resident, had one problem: he wasn’t an American citizen. Nikki Mordini, Davis Brown Shareholder and Central Academy alumni, as well as paralegal Natalie Rivera, took Martinez’s case pro bono and worked tirelessly with the Des Moines immigration office to expedite his American citizenship.
Martinez is now a U.S. citizen who was not only accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy, but is also being courted by multiple top tier universities.
