Immigration attorney Lori Chesser and business attorney Kate Carlucci recently returned from Washington D.C. where they visited with numerous congressional staffers, legislators, and other key federal stakeholders as part of the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s DMDC 2015 trip.
This annual trip offers attendees from across central Iowa the opportunity to travel to D.C. as a group to advocate for causes important to Iowans, to inquire progress of local projects, and to gather information about federal processes.
As a trip sponsor, Davis Brown also organizes a key legislative forum on immigration led by department chair Lori Chesser. Lori gathered together representatives from Mid-American Energy, The Palmer Group, UnityPoint, and The Weitz Company to discuss national immigration policy and its impact on the available workforce in the state.
This year, associate Kate Carlucci also participated in the event. Kate’s practice includes lobbying and governmental relations and she felt it was important go to DC to help represent her local clients. “The partnership trip is a great way to meet with our congressional delegation and their DC staff on issues impacting central Iowa. The trip also provides abundant opportunities to meet and connect with local officials from the greater Des Moines area.”
