Charles N. Wittmack

CONCENTRATION

Charles is an associate of the Davis Brown Law Firm. He joined the Litigation Division in 2006 in the areas of Business and Construction Litigation, including trial advocacy and appellate practice.

SUMMARY

Charles regularly appears before judges and juries in state and federal courts, while representing plaintiffs and defendants. His recent jury trials have involved disputes related to intellectual property disputes, construction defects and employment relationships. Most recently, his clients won more than $2.5 million in damages against a group of defendants for the faulty engineering and construction of a private residence.

ACADEMICS

Charles graduated from the University of Iowa, College of Law with distinction.  During his tenure at the University of Iowa, he gained valuable trial experience as an extern with the Hon. Robert W. Pratt in the Federal District Court, Southern District of Iowa. He also represented his class as a delegate to the Iowa Student Bar Association and as a member of the C. Edwin Moore Inn of Court.  Prior to law school matriculation, he worked as a litigation legal assistant for Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C. on some of the most significant cases in the nation.

PUBLICATION, SPEAKING, AND SEMINARS 

When not preparing cases for trial, Charles is a frequent lecturer to corporations, associations and student groups on a broad range of topics at venues across the United States. A few of his corporate speaking clients include Wells Fargo Financial, Principal Financial, Maytag, Whirlpool, Employers Mutual Co., Shazam, Lennox, and GuideOne Insurance.

PERSONAL

Charlie is also a world-class adventurer. In addition to standing atop peaks in the Andes, Alps, Alaska, Africa, and the Himalaya, Charlie has trekked across East Africa with the Maasai, sailed the Indian Ocean in a handmade boat, bicycled across the

United States, and climbed to the summit of Mount Everest. He is currently training to swim the English Channel.
