Sponsorship, Charitable Giving And Community Support

The Davis Brown Law Firm has a long history of community involvement within the state of Iowa. Many of the firm's lawyers hold leadership positions in local civic, charitable and political organizations-including the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, Polk County Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, Des Moines Public Library Foundation, Ames Economic Development Commission and numerous others. 

As leaders in the community, we believe in giving back to the community and making Iowa a better place to live and work. In keeping with these values, the firm actively promotes and contributes to a number of local charities and nonprofit organizations. 

Community Support Guidelines
Throughout the year, the firm receives numerous requests from community organizations, local charities and others. The following guidelines were established to help evaluate such requests. 

  • Requests should have significant public interest and support; directly benefit the Central Iowa community; and relate to the firm's mission and culture.
  • All requests must be submitted in writing or via email and must include: The specific amount of the donation or sponsorship request'; a description of how the request will be used; information about the organization-including the mission or vision statement, a list of the organization's board of directors, affiliations with Davis Brown and a list of other corporate supporters; and complete contact information; 
  • For charitable requests, confirmation of U.S. tax exempt status; and,
  • Charity must be sustainable organization in business for more than one year.

Requests must be submitted by August of the current year for consideration for the following calendar year. Funding decisions are based on available resources, the nature of the request and the requesting organization.
