The Davis Brown Law Firm received an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) award on Thursday, November 4, 2010. They were nominated by Major William P. Kelly, a JAG Officer and Davis Brown attorney currently serving in Afghanistan.

Major Kelly's application follows:

"I have found the Davis Brown Law Firm to be one of the most patriotic and caring organizations I have been associated with. The Firm has been great to me internally and have shown their patriotism in the advice they give to our business clients. They have mobilized people and resources to help me help the Afghanistan people. Like a family, the members of Davis have rallied to make my deployment preparations to Afghanistan and the training for OEF achievable while still maintaining my law practice.

The partners and associates in our Firm have sacrificed time and money to insure my clients are well represented. Davis Brown has recognized me on our web site and spent resources to help me and my family get ready. Davis Brown recognizes the importance of our military mission and understands the difficult transition it has been for me to go from full time civil attorney to transform into the Brigade Judge Advocate. They continued my full time pay and benefits even though for the last six months army training and Afghanistan preparations have dominated my time. Cheerfully, the lawyers and staff have made preparations to cover my cases and maintain excellent client service even to the point of trying highly litigated cases in my absence due to military commitments. I think almost all of the 181 employees of our Firm have asked for my address to send care packages and have offered to help my wife and four children while I am gone.

 

There are two things that strike me about this organization. The first is that the lawyers of the Firm know what is legally required for deploying soldiers. They could take the attitude that we will "follow the law". I am blessed to have an organization like the Davis Brown Law Firm that goes above and beyond what is legally required. What makes Davis truly outstanding is that the Firm advises businesses who are dealing with this deployment and through their counsel to outside organizations and employers provide the necessary advice to leaders to set policy that supports our national defense." 

This is the second ESGR award the Firm has received. In 2007, Davis Brown was recognized with the "Above and Beyond" award.
