On October 23, 2015, senior shareholder Bill Kelly received word that Governor Branstad had appointed him as judge to the 5C Judicial District to fill the seat vacated by Judge D. J. Stovall who recently retired.
Earlier this fall, Bill Kelly celebrated his 17th anniversary at Davis Brown. During that time, he assisted many clients in their family and military law affairs. He also worked with clients in litigation matters in the banking and trucking industry. Bill also wound down his mediation practice in which he mediated close to 400 disputed cases.
He is active in the legal community serving on the Military Affairs committee of the Iowa State Bar Association and on the board of the Polk County Bar Association. He is also a frequent speaker on matters relating to family law and other litigation and mediation matters. An active Iowa Army National Guard member since 1995, Bill has also served as a Brigade Judge Advocate with the 2/34 IBCT in Boone, Iowa, and was deployed on a one year tour in Afghanistan in 2010. He now serves with Joint Forces Headquarters in Johnston, Iowa.
Davis Brown wishes Bill the best as he moves to this new position. We will miss him and his service to the firm.
