A message from our friend Jeremy Robbins Director of the Partnership for a New American Economy is below. The Partnership held one of its first events in Iowa with the Iowa Immigration Education Coalition. It is a bipartisan group. Check out the link below to join the effort.
“Last month, we #iMarch’ed as a nation. Today, we take our virtual march for immigration reform to the states.
The national #iMarch was the largest ever virtual march for immigration reform. Leaders in politics, business, faith, and tech including Jeb Bush, Arianna Huffington, Cory Booker, Ralph Reed, Condoleezza Rice, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Russell Simmons, and Michael Bloomberg all #iMarch’ed with us. We generated more than 30,000 tweets, messages, and phone calls pushing Congress to pass immigration reform, and our social media storm reached over 400 million people (see more highlights here).
But that was just the beginning.
Today, as the comprehensive immigration bill hits the Senate floor, we need to keep the pressure on. So starting today we are taking our case to the states. Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until the immigration bill leaves the Senate we will #iMarch in a different state. Today, it’s Idaho. Thursday it’s North Carolina. And we’re continuing with two #iMarch’es per week until the Senate passes the immigration bill.
Now is not the time for complacency. Wherever you are, click here to take action now.”
