Professional Personnel Committee
The Professional Personnel Committee recruits and hires new summer associates, associates, and lateral hires. The committee is elected by the board of directors and is comprised of three shareholders, one associate, and the professional services administrator.
The committee currently includes attorneys: David VanSickel (chair), Tara Hall, Sarah Crane, Jana Weiler, and professional services administrator Barb Hardy.
David is the secretary of the Board of Directors, senior shareholder, chair of the Professional Personnel Committee, and a member of the Business Division. He has a general practice in, but not limited to, finance and public finance. He has been primarily involved in providing advice as bond counsel to the State of Iowa and its various agencies, instrumentalities, and political subdivisions with respect to all types of public finance. He has also acted as issuer's counsel, bank counsel, and underwriter's counsel for a variety of different types of financing.
Tara is a shareholder and a member of the Litigation Division. She maintains a general litigation practice including but not limited to business and commercial litigation, employment and labor relations, and litigation and appeals. Tara recently graduated from the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute.
Sarah is a shareholder and member of the Litigation Division. She maintains a general litigation practice, including business litigation, commercial litigation, appellate practice, health law, antitrust law, insurance defense, and employment law. Sarah has significant experience in Iowa's District and Appellate Courts and in Federal Court, including the first case to be assigned to Iowa's newly constructed Business Court.
Jana is an associate and member of the Business Division. She practices in the areas of estate planning, administration of estates and trusts, guardianships and conservatorships, nonprofits and charitable organizations and employee benefits. Jana is an active contributor to the Davis Brown Tax Law Blog and prior to joining the firm in 2011 was a summer associate in 2009 and 2010.
