Kris Holub Tilley

CONCENTRATION

Kris Tilley is a senior shareholder of the Davis Brown Law Firm and a trial attorney in the firm's Litigation Division. Her practice encompasses general civil litigation matters with an emphasis in the areas of insurance defense, product liability, employment law and telecommunications law.

 

Litigation EXPERIENCE

Kris possesses 25 years of litigation experience. Her trial experience encompasses litigation before state and federal courts as well as state administrative agencies. She has served as lead counsel on a wide variety of civil cases including:

 

products liability and warranty claims


  wrongful death actions

premises liability claims

 

  personal injury claims

gross negligence claims


  breach of contract actions

employment disputes


  business torts

wrongful termination and retaliation claims


  challenges under open meeting laws

 

Kris has successfully litigated multiple jury and bench trials, many of which culminated in total defense verdicts. She also has resolved numerous lawsuits through private settlements, motion practice and mediation.

 

In addition, Kris has represented numerous clients in federal multi-district litigation proceedings. These proceedings, referred to as “MDL” actions, involve consolidation of hundreds of nationwide cases on a related subject matter into a single court docket for coordination of discovery and pretrial issues. Her representation of clients in MDL proceedings has been in the product liability arena involving diet drug and breast implant cases and also in the telecommunications field involving intraMTA traffic.

 

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

In the field of telecommunications law, Kris has represented independent local exchange carriers and competitive local exchange carriers in state and federal court lawsuits and before administrative agencies. The communication disputes have included the interpretation of tariff provisions, call completion issues, and access charge disputes. She has also represented carriers in contested case proceedings and investigative dockets before the Iowa Utilities Board on a variety of subject matters.
