Abhay M. Nadipuram

Abhay Nadipuram joined the firm in July 2017 as an associate in the litigation division. Prior to joining Davis Brown, Abhay was in-house counsel at the Principal Financial Group® where his work included issues involving the Exchange Act, the Securities Act, the Investment Advisors Act of 1940, and the Investment Company Act of 1940. 

Following his graduation from Law School, Abhay practiced litigation law as an associate attorney at Lederer Weston Craig PLC in Cedar Rapids. At the firm, he conducted motion practice, depositions, discovery, and appeared in court on behalf of his clients. The firm served as City Attorney for various cities in the area, in that capacity, Abhay also tried cases in magistrate court for municipal clients.

Abhay graduated with honors from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2013. He wrote for the Journal of Corporation Law authoring a note, “Is the OECD the Answer? It’s Only Part of the Solution,” for the 38th volume of the journal, and later served as a Note and Comment Editor for the journal.  Additionally, Abhay participated in moot court, where he was an appellate advocacy finalist, served as Co-President of the Iowa Student Bar Association, and was a member of the Pro Bono Society.

Abhay graduated in 2010 from Wartburg College where he studied political science and philosophy. He was active playing varsity tennis, singing in the Wartburg Choir, and serving as Student Body President and Vice-President, among others.


Abhay is a member of the Iowa State Leadership Board of the American Cancer Society,  the Board of Directors of Iowa Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and in May 2017, he completed the year long Community Leadership Program of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute.  Previously, Abhay served on the Board of Directors of Iowa Asian Alliance. 

Abhay is active in the leadership of his local and state bar associations. His service with the Iowa State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (“YLD”) began in 2014 as a district representative; he is Chair and Founding Member of the YLD Diversity Committee, and he currently serves as Secretary of the YLD. He previously served as District 5C Representative to the ISBA Board of Governors and on the Polk County Bar Association Board of Directors from 2016-2017.

Abhay was active in Boy Scouts of America and earned his Eagle Scout award in 2006. 


Abhay lives in Des Moines. He and his fiancée, Rani, a neonatologist, will be married in June 2018. He enjoys singing, playing golf and tennis, bicycling, and cheering on the Hawkeyes.

He is a fluent speaker of Kannada.
