On Saturday, March 10, Margaret Van Houten, senior shareholder at the Davis Brown Law Firm, was formally elected to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) Foundation's Board of Directors. She was also named the chair of the Technology in the Practice Committee.
The ACTEC Foundation promotes scholarship and education in trust, estate, tax and related areas of the law by supporting scholarship to improve the law and encouraging teaching, careers and life-long learning. Additionally, the foundation encourages civic engagement of individual Fellows of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel through programs and activities which serve the general community, including those who are at risk and underserved.
Margaret has practiced law for more than thirty years and has been a member of ACTEC since 1995. She maintains a practice in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning and probate law, taxation, charitable organizations, and employee benefits. She is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has also been named a Great Plains Super Lawyer and a "Lawyer of the Year" by Best Lawyers in America.
