In September, the Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Partnership for a New American Economy announced a new collaboration, the Des Moines Immigration Initiative. Senior Shareholder and Immigration Department Chair, Lori Chesser, was selected to chair the task force. About the initiative, Lori said, “Bringing business leaders together to focus on how to attract and retain immigrants is a critical step in addressing Iowa’s workforce needs. I am thrilled to assist in this effort.”
Lori has been working and advocating for the immigrant community in Central Iowa for many years. She has led efforts to make government processes easier and often leads the conversation on the importance of immigrants to growing the economy. She is involved with many organizations focused on immigration including the American Immigration Lawyers Association, American Immigration Council, and the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Immigration Council.
