Lori Chesser, Davis Brown Senior Shareholder and Immigration Department Chair, was among the group of almost 200 Central Iowa business and community leaders to make the trip to the nation’s capital to represent the central Iowa region in mid May 2016.
The trip featured presentations by legislators, business leaders, U.S. Ambassadors and cabinet members, as well as trips to historic sites in the area and small policy meetings with congressional staffers. Lori’s involvement included leading the immigration workshop in which Wendy Feliz, the Communication Director for the American Immigration Council (a D.C.-based non-profit whose board Lori chairs) trained participants in communication tactics regarding immigration reform, a key focus of the Greater Des Moines Partnership in 2016.
“The Partnership’s D.C. trip is a fantastic opportunity to build
relationships with our Congressional delegation and other members of the
Central Iowa business community. This year I was especially pleased to
bring a diverse group to meet with Reps. Young and Loebsack, as well as
Sen. Ernst’s Legislative Counsel, regarding the problems we see with
