Jana Weiler, attorney practicing in estate planning and administration, and employee benefits, has been accepted to the West Des Moines Leadership Academy.
A program of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, the WDMLA began in 2007 and since that time a number of Davis Brown attorneys have graduated from the program including Elizabeth Meyer, Sarah Franklin, Scott Brennan, Susan Freed, and Tom Houser among others.
As part of the 2016-2017 class, Jana will participate in the academy with a group of 30 other emerging leaders dedicated to the development of the West Des Moines community and their own professional leadership development. Through over 30 hours of leadership training and completion of an organized class project, the group will engage with community leaders from the school district, government, non-profits, health care entities, and more as they work to make the community a better place to live and work.
The West Des Moines Leadership Academy (WDMLA) is an intensive, regionally-oriented leadership development program designed to give potential and emerging leaders the skills, knowledge, and ongoing support they need to succeed in the West Des Moines community.
The WDMLA offers a three-tiered approach of leadership skills training focused on Leading Self, Leading Others, and Leading Community, specifically towards:
- Developing and enhancing leaderships skills of participants
- Educating participants regarding issues facing our community
- Stimulating increased leadership throughout our community
