On Tuesday, January 10, Ben Kieffer, host of the Iowa Public Radio show River to River, interviewed Lori Chesser, Davis Brown Immigration Department Chair, Jessica Welburn of the University of Iowa, and Donna Hoffman of the University of Northern Iowa about the legacy of President Obama.
The first part of the program focused on immigration. In the conversation, Lori contrasted the expectations many had from the Obama campaign with the administration’s policy focus and implemented changes. Lori discussed with Mr. Kieffer the various immigration policy actions, including DACA and increased deportations, how this compares with actions taken under other presidential administrations, and how the Obama administration might be remembered as it relates to immigration.
