Amy Piepmeier recently led a workshop at the Iowa Brewers Education Seminar and Tippling (i-BEST) conference in Northwood, Iowa at Worth Brewing Company.
Amy’s presentation focused on employee handbooks. Like many other small business owners, brewers can get tripped up by regulations and this is especially true when it comes to the details of employment law. Amy showed the brewers how having an employee handbook and using it to guide your workplace can save your business. The presentation covered some of the most litigated subjects of employment handbooks: confidentiality, professionalism, anti-harassment, media contact, trademarks and trade secrets, recording and social media.
Amy also participated in the opening panel discussion, “Negotiating a Wholesaler Contract” with other local attorneys, moderated by John Watts of Kalona Brewing.
The i-BEST conference featured three tracks for brewers to choose from: business/marketing, legal, and technical brewing. Attendees could choose their focus and attend the four breakout sessions in that track.
