Jodie McDougal Leads OSHA Crystalline Silica Dust Training with Alma Marquez, Iowa OSHA - April 18, 2018

On Thursday, April 12, construction attorney Jodie McDougal, in partnership with Alma Marquez from Iowa OSHA, led a training about the new OSHA Crystalline Silica Dust Rules for the Home Builders Association of Des Moines.  The training offered 1.5 hours of credit to the audience of more than 100 company owners, project managers, contractors, subcontractors, and crew members.

OSHA expects that all crew/employees have at least one hour of training about the new rules and that the designated “competent persons” within each company have three hours of training.

The new rules tighten the exposure standards for all employees of contractors who engage in activities that create respirable crystalline silica dust (details on the requirements).

If you are a contractor and respirable crystalline silica dust is created on your job site, your compliance with these new rules is mandatory. Jodie McDougal is available to help assist contractors and subcontractors in complying with these new rules and responding to OSHA inspections.
