On Monday, September 17, John Pietila presented “A Triangle of Trust: Counsel, Board and Manager,” at the NTCA Rural Broadband Association Fall Conference & Legal Seminar in Seattle, Washington.
As counsel to the Iowa Communications Alliance, the state affiliate of the NTCA, and counsel to many member rural telecommunications companies and cooperatives, John sees everything when it comes to the innerworkings of rural telcos. It is with this experience that John presents annually at the national conference on timely topics of interest.
This year, John’s presentation focused on the working relationship between a telco’s board, managers, and legal counsel. In the face of significant market disruption and innovation in the industry, a trusting and collaborative relationship within this triangle is more vital than ever. John touched on issues of corporate governance, the role and duties of each person in the triangle, directors, managers, and counsel, and how a good working relationship and benefit companies and cooperatives in the industry.
