On Friday, October 19, immigration department chair, Lori Chesser, presented at the Iowa State Bar Association’s Corporate Counsel and Trade Regulation Seminar. Her presentation, “Hot Topics in Immigration Law,” covered various immigration issues important to businesses. The Trump administration has increased scrutiny on immigration, including legal immigration for high level employees. Lori’s presentation covered a few of the focus areas, new documentation compliance practices, and information about recent immigration enforcement actions against businesses.
The Corporate Counsel and Trade Regulation Seminar is organized by Corporate Counsel and Trade Regulation Sections of the Iowa State Bar Association. The seminar brings together in-house legal counsel from across the state for the full day Continuing Legal Education seminar. In addition to Lori’s presentation, other presentations by Iowa lawyers, judges, and governmental officials covered issues including trademarks, sexual harassment, data privacy, trade and tariffs, and ethics.
