Katelynn McCollough, litigation attorney, presented at the Upper Midwest Osteopathic Health Conference May 2. The conference is hosted by the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association in Des Moines. The event brings together osteopathic practitioners from across the Midwest for three days of educational seminars.
Katelynn’s presentation, “Cannabidiol - Current Law, Legal Implications for Physicians,” discussed the current laws, both at the state and federal level, pertaining to marijuana and medical cannabidiol and what steps providers should take to ensure their practice follows the law in light of existing restrictions.
In the 2019 session, the Iowa legislature passed bills relating to the production of hemp and the use of medical marijuana. Katelynn and colleagues in the health law department are following the progress of those bills closely and will provide an update if the Governor signs them.
