Labor and Employment Department Chair, Jo Ellen Whitney, and attorney, Kelsey K. Crosse, recently attended the Employers Counsel Network (ECN) Conference in Denver.
The conference brings together employment attorneys from every state in the United States, in addition to Canada, to network and learn from each other. Topics this year included sexual harassment training and prevention from the perspective of an attorney with the EEOC, marijuana, jury persuasion, and violence in the workplace, among others.
“This conference was a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with talented employment attorneys from across the country to better the work we provide for our clients. Our multi-state clients in particular benefit from our membership in ECN.” - Kelsey Crosse
Kelsey collaborates with a Michigan attorney about how to foster buy-in regarding anti-harassment trainings so that these trainings do not result in unconscious bias concerns and additional risks for employers.
Jo Ellen and Kelsey bring back new understandings about regional and national trends in employment law to help guide their counsel for employers. Jo Ellen was also presented with an award at the conference for timely submission of articles for the monthly Iowa Employment Law Letter, a newsletter for HR professionals.
