Abhay Nadipuram Participates in Law School Diversity Panel at University of Iowa College of Law - October 25, 2019

Abhay Nadipuram, litigation attorney and member of Davis Brown’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion committee, recently participated in a panel discussion at the University of Iowa College of Law, “I AM HERE: Diversity in Law School and the Legal Profession.”

Presented by the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, Black Law Students Association, First-Generation Professionals, and Hispanic and Latino Law Students Association, the event featured a panel of attorneys from underrepresented groups.  The panelists included Iowa Supreme Court Justice Christopher McDonald, Erick Orantes, and Grace Mcandrew.

Abhay and the panelists discussed their experiences as minorities in law school and the legal profession and answered questions about how to handle uncomfortable topics and situations when working in the legal profession as a minority attorney. Approximately 50 law students attended the panel.

“I really enjoy every opportunity I have to answer questions from law students, particularly questions about what it’s like to be a member of an underrepresented group in the legal profession.  The students were great partners in organizing the event, and I’m glad that Davis Brown’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee could be part of it.  I look forward to continuing to work with the students at the University of Iowa College of Law to find ways that Davis Brown can support their efforts.”
