In February, business attorney Shannon Holmberg presented at a meeting of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Central Iowa Chapter. Shannon presented to an audience of public relations and marketing professionals and covered the basics of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as other data privacy laws and how they could impact Iowa businesses. Although data privacy is normally thought to be under the purview of the IT team, marketing and public relations professionals have a key role in compliance with these privacy regulations.
The PRSA is the world’s largest organization of public relations professionals and features over 125 local chapters across the United States. The Central Iowa chapter counts over 200 members and provides ongoing education opportunities to members throughout the year.
