The Iowa Association of Realtors held a COVID-19 Legal Panel for Brokers on Thursday, April 16 to discuss how the pandemic is impacting real estate.
Davis Brown construction law attorney, Jodie McDougal was invited to provide insight on the pandemic’s impact on real estate sales, open houses, and closings and steps that should be taken to minimize those effects, as well as suggested modifications to real estate contracts. She also recommended operational changes for brokers and realtors and actions they can take to help mitigate liability exposure.
Jodie also reviewed recent changes in the law for the property managers and landlords in the audience.
The Association’s legal counsel Gabe Walsh moderated the panel and Jodie was joined by William Serangeli from Dickinson Law and Jorge Gomez, Jr. from Gomez May Law. Over 300 Iowa realtors and brokers attended the webinar.
