Daniela Erickson, immigration and litigation attorney, is chairing the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Technology Association of Iowa in 2020 after having co-chaired in 2019.
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Daniela is striving to move the work of the committee forward. “We had plans for the year, including more lunch and learns with the TAI community, but now we’re pivoting to adapt to this new situation to continue to provide support and resources to TAI membership.”
With many in Iowa’s workforce working remotely, the committee is working to bring the focus to supporting individuals and member companies in this new paradigm, starting with efforts to identify the challenges currently faced and any solutions that have already been identified. The group is working to develop a resource guide for businesses, because in a remote work environment, any inclusion issues present in a work culture are only amplified.
“Despite the challenges Iowa companies are facing right now, we hope to be a valuable resource to help companies adapt and continue efforts to make Iowa a welcoming place for everyone to work. We look forward to another successful year highlighting the work of diverse individuals through our Catalysts series as well.” - Daniela Erickson
