Breanna Young, trusts and estates attorney, presented “Serving LGBT+ Individuals” with Max Mowitz of One Iowa at the Iowa Association of Community Providers conference on Tuesday, August 25.
In the presentation, Max and Breanna reviewed methods for facilities and providers to be more welcoming of LGBTQ+ people with disabilities. Breanna and Max covered two aspects of the work: the legal side, covering the anti-discrimination requirements of federal and state laws, as well as the practical side, covering changes to intake and other forms and terminology to help LGBTQ+ individuals feel supported by their care providers.
Davis Brown attorneys Tim Coonan, Susan Freed, and Jo Ellen Whitney also participated in the conference.
