Holly Logan joined the Davis Brown family in January adding a White Collar Criminal Defense and Internal Investigations practice to the firm.
The firm signed on to the Drake University Law School Law Opportunity Leadership Program to support the growth and development of underrepresented students in the study and practice of law. We look forward to hosting a participating student in a summer internship in 2018.
Over 200 clients joined us for the annual Spring Seminar on Health and Employment law featuring a keynote address by Scott Brennan and Tim Coonan, “Straight Flush Government: President Trump's First 77 Days, Governor Branstad's Last ?? Days.”
We joined Des Moines Public Schools in celebrating the 50th anniversary of Brody Middle School in May. The school is named after Joseph I. Body, one of the founders of Davis Brown. We were honored to take part in the celebration and retired attorney, Steve Roberts, spoke at the ceremony.
We supported another Des Moines school, Willard Elementary, by sponsoring their mural project which engages not only the artistic skills of the participating fifth graders, but also teaches math, public speaking, and collaborative teamwork.
Forbes magazine featured the Davis Brown Start-Up Launchpad project in the list of top legal resources for start-ups in June.
We mourned the loss of Dick Thornton in July. Dick had been a member of the Davis Brown family for many years as a lobbyist and the delightful stories of his work shared at his memorial helped us remember our friend Buddha.
In August, attorney Abhay Nadipuram joined the litigation team bringing a great energy to the team and in September, three new associate attorneys joined the firm and hit the ground running helping shareholders and associates with a variety of work over the last three months.
Over the course of the year, we were honored to be recognized by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America©, Super Lawyers, BTI Consulting, and the Des Moines Business Record for our quality legal work and Exceptional Client Service™.
The Davis Brown family also supported each other and the community throughout the year with significant charitable giving. Our monthly charity jeans days raised over $9,000, we crossed the $1 million mark in our United Way Campaign, and we supported 58 charities with sponsorships and donations throughout the year.
